Tennis Twist
Tennis ball machines are a wonderful way to get out on the court and to be able to practice when you’re not in the midst of a match with your playing partners. The fact is, practice does make perfect as they say. You can never get in too much practice time in no matter what your sport it. Bottom line is the more the better.
Tennis ball machines are not for everybody. Well perhaps they are but the costs involved for the casual player can be intimidating. You really should be spending your time playing as much as possible and not worrying about acquiring a tennis ball machine for the times when you’re alone. But if you are a serious player who wants to get in as much playing and practice as possible, you should consider a tennis ball machine if your budget so affords you to get one.

The good news is that there is a new kid on the block so to speak. There is now an inexpensive option when it comes to tennis ball machines. Tennis Tutor, a maker of the more expensive brand of tennis ball machines has come up with an inexpensive tennis ball machine called the Tennis Twist that opens the tennis ball machine market up to just about everyone.
The Tennis Twist is a simple machine that can keep you busy on the court for awhile. The Tennis Twist was designed with simplicity in mind. It doesn’t do the same things that those more expensive machines like the Lobster or other models from Tennis Tutor does. What The Tennis Twist does do is gives you the capabilities to have a tennis ball machine that can pitch the ball to you every 5 seconds or so. The Tennis Twist does not oscillate like its bigger companions do. The Tennis Twist will feed the ball to you in the same spot over and over again.
Ball capacity is also another trade off with the Tennis Twist. The Tennis Twist can only hold 28 tennis balls at a time, so you will have to spend more time in between picking up and reloading the Tennis Twist as you will only get in about 2 minutes of rallying each time. In addition, the Tennis Twist can only pitch the ball a short distance of 15-20 feet or so you must place the Tennis Twist on your side of the net for best performance unless you are strictly practicing overhead smashes.
Due to the smaller size of the Tennis Twist as compared to its bigger brothers, the Tennis Twist is very easily transportable. At about 10 pounds, anybody can carry it. There are two models, one that runs on 6 D batteries and the other that is AC powered. Bottom line is that for about $225, the Tennis Twist is a good machine, not great, that can be very beneficial for players of all ages and especially more so players in the beginning to intermediate skill levels. For the better players, I would pass and move on to a higher performance machine like the Lobster or a Tennis Tutor if you can afford it. Just as a side note, the Tennis Twist can also be used as a baseball batting practice devise (with tennis balls) for kids.
